The Rev. Dr. Charles (Chaz) Lattimore Howard is an Episcopal Priest, Theologian, Son, Brother, Husband, Father, and one of the many souls who believes that we can be a more loving, more just, and more peaceful world. 

Dr. Howard serves as the University Chaplain and Vice President for Social Equity & Community at the University of Pennsylvania, his alma mater.  He has served as a hospital and hospice chaplain, and as a street outreach worker to individuals experiencing homelessness. 

As an author , his work has been featured in such publications as Sojourners Magazine, The Christian Century, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Huffington Post, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily Good, The Forward, Black Theology: An International Journal, and Slate. 

He has written and edited several books, including The Souls of Poor Folk, The Awe and The Awful, Black Theology as Mass Movement, Pond River Ocean Rain: Find Peace in the Storms of Life, The Bottom: A Theopoetic of the Street, Uncovering Your Path: Spiritual Reflections for Finding Your Purpose, and the forthcoming, Holy Calling, Human Heart: A Devotional Companion for Life in Ministry.

As a teacher, he has taught in the College of Arts and Sciences and in the Graduate School of Education at Penn, as well as at The United Lutheran Seminary of Philadelphia, and Eastern University's Prison Education Program.

A son of Baltimore, and Godson of Philadelphia, he shares life with his wife, Dr. Lia C. Howard and their three daughters.
